Our Vision
Taragaon Next is Kathmandu’s first contemporary space dedicated to built heritage, urban planning, culture, and the arts.
Our mission is anchored on three key integrated aspects: art, culture, and community. We focus not only on archiving the history of the region, but also, interpreting these stories with engaging projects in order to create space and build relations with the local community.
The story of the rapidly industrializing city of Kathmandu unravels inside our modernist and modular brick structures, as our campus consciously facilitates a reflective and inclusive atmosphere by design.
Our programming is conceived across three key verticals:
Curatorial Projects
Taragaon Next is committed to research in architecture and the arts, specifically through curatorial interventions – from archival exhibitions, conferences, seminars, and lectures, to contemporary art, sculpture, and performance projects.
Collaborations
Facilitating collaborative and interdisciplinary projects as well as social welfare initiatives form a crucial component of our mission. For instance, film screenings, exhibitions, festivals, music performances, book launches, etc.
Creative Learning
Pedagogy and community are at the heart of Taragaon Next. Our projects remain deeply connected to our local community, especially young learners – through guided curatorial tours, workshops, open calls, interactive corners, and more.
