aragaon Next presents Object in Focus : “Boundaries Reimagined, ” a site-specific installation by artist Viola Bordon in collaboration with weavers from @nepalknotcraftcentre
The idea and inspiration for the material stems from Viola’s research on the invasive species of water hyacinths that have brought about ecological shifts in landscapes near Koshi Tapu. The floating plant has invaded the wildlife reserve, displacing cattail- the traditional weaving material and overworking a delicate ecosystem.
Using this plant as her prime object, the art installation integrates deliberation and dialogue and gives an insight into the artist’s contemporarized display using a natural fibre.
