Museum

Histories come to life inside surreal, futuristic, red-brick buildings.

About our Museum

Our Museum is an expansive yet intimately designed space comprising nine galleries interwoven inside three buildings. Out here, the multi-layered unique histories of Kathmandu – one of the most rapidly industrializing cities of the world – and beyond come into life through curated exhibition surveys of the Nepal Architecture Archive (NAA) collection alongside contemporary artifacts.

About the Nepal Architecture Archive

Established in 2016, NAA is a unique repository of research conducted by national and international scholars and practitioners on the built heritage of Nepal. In collaboration with NAA, our Museum holds a collection of over 2000 materials: sketches, photographs, urban planning documents, and drawings that document the shifting architecture of the Himalayas across time.

Inside our Museum, this archive takes a contemporary turn, as each year, a chosen researcher is invited to interpret and curate a different exhibition, encouraging viewers to return and discover their own Indigenous heritage and culture anew.
